Commissary In The Orange County Jail

Commissary orders are processed three times per week for each facility.

  • The processing of Commissary orders begins at 4 AM, therefore, if you
    are putting money on an inmates account for the purposes of allowing
    the inmate to order commissary, this must be done prior to 4 AM on the
    day the inmates order is being processed.
  • Inmates at the Women's Jail and Theo Lacy have their orders processed
    on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday for delivery on Monday,
    Wednesday and Friday.
  • Inmates at the Men’s Jail, IRC and Musick have their orders processed
    on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for delivery on Tuesday, Thursday
    and Saturday.
  • Commisary items available for purchase include hygiene items, snacks,
    writing materials, etc.
There are approximately 125 items available through Commissary Operations. Categories include: Personal Care (hygiene for hand and body); Hair Care; Snacks, Nuts and Chips; Natural Foods; Beverages; Natural Beverages; Candy; Food Items; Stationery Supplies; Greeting Cards; and Gift Certificates. Inmates are continually introduced to new items through the "Introductory" category. While any of these items may be ordered with sufficient funds, welfare Packs (consisting of hygiene and stationary items) may be ordered by inmates having a balance of less than $1.00. Commissary Operations delivers these products to approximately 6,200 inmates confined in each of the five jail facilities.  Inmates may order and receive regular commissary up to three times per week. Commissary Operations staff of civilian employees are responsible for processing 30,000 to 36,000 orders per month with annual sales in excess of $7 million dollars.
