The Robert Presley Detention Center (R.P.D.C.) is located in the downtown area of Riverside, California. The Riverside County Jail was renamed R.P.D.C. in 1989. The "Old Jail" was originally constructed in 1933 and was built as part of the old historical courthouse annex.
- Visiting at the Robert Presley Detention Center is by appointment only. Visitors must call the day before the requested visiting day to set an appointment. Each housing unit has specific days for visiting with appointments available in the morning, afternoon and evening. Inmates may have two visits on a given visiting day. However, the visits are limited to one in the morning and one in the evening.
- Visiting appointments are scheduled daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm by calling (951) 341-8888.
- A maximum of two adults and two children are allowed per visit. Visitor check in begins 20 minutes before the visit start time and ends 10 minutes before the visit start time.
- Metered Public Parking is available on streets surrounding the jail. Two separate Public Parking Structures are located at the corner of Lemon and 12th street.

The inmates at the Robert Presley Detention Center are not allowed to receive incoming phone calls at any given time. However, the inmates are able to make collect calls to contact a family member or a friend or they may use a calling card to make outgoing calls which can be purchased from the commissary.
The family members or friends may also pre-pay for the inmate's calls by going online and purchasing them using a calling card. The name of the telephone company that services the jails in the greater Los Angeles area including the Riverside Jails is Global Tell Link.
You can reach Global Tell Link via the internet or by phone at 1-877-650-4249. These calling cards only come in increments of $25 and $50. Otherwise, you may contact the inmates by sending them mail or visiting them at the facility.
Note: This visiting information is for family and friends of inmates. Riverside criminal defense attorneys have much wider latitude in terms of inmate visiting schedules.
Each visitor who enters the facility for purpose of visitation is required to provide proof of identification upon request. The following is a list of accepted forms of identifications:
   * A California driver's license
   * A California identification card
   * A U.S. passport
   * An Alien Registration card
Each Riverside County Jail inmate receives a maximum of 2 visits per week. Visits may not be longer than 45 minutes in duration. All visits must be scheduled prior to arriving at the facility at least one day before the actual day of the visit. The Robert Presley Detention Center is available for visiting appointments daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm via phone at (951) 341-8888.
Visitors are allowed to check in 20 minutes before visiting hours begin. Visitors are required to check in at least 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment for visit. Inmates may receive 2 visits per day but the visits must be scheduled so that 1 is in the morning and 1 is in the evening.
All persons entering the jail with the intent to visit inmates will go through a standard security search and background investigation for any outstanding warrants or parole violations. If a visitor has a warrant for his or her arrest and/or is on parole, visiting privilege will not be granted.
All visitors must be 18 years of age or above to be allowed to visit an inmate. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Each visitor is only allowed to visit the person that he or she signed up for when the appointment was made.
No illegal weapons, objects that might be used to cause injury to another person, alcohol, or drugs are allowed in the visiting area. Food, beverage, and smoking are also not allowed in the visiting area at any given time.
All persons visiting a Riverside Jail inmate must be in proper attire. The appropriate dress code constitutes no prints with gang affiliation, must have no images of sexual nature or suggestive sexual undertones, or should not be offensive to anyone. Clothes that are inappropriately revealing parts of the body will not be allowed.
Anyone who is not in compliance of any of the above regulations will not be granted visitation privilege. The management of the Sherriff’s Corrections Divisions at the Robert Presley Detention Center reserves the right to deny anyone visitation privilege if they deem it necessary for security reasons.

Procedure on "Return of Property" at the Robert Presley Detention Center
After the conclusion of the booking process, the inmate may choose to release any property that was in his/her possession at the time of the arrest to anyone by signing a release form. Although, no will be released if claimed after the 24-hour period from the booking process.
Money will be released if withdrawn from the inmate’s account within 24 hours of the booking process with the approval of the inmate. Otherwise it will require a court order to withdraw money from the inmate’s account. Other properties besides clothing may be released to a designated recipient upon completion of a release form. A valid identification is required upon collection of inmate’s property.
This procedure can be done every day at the Riverside County jail lobby between the hours of 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. Please coordinate first with the inmate to perform necessary steps before arrival at the facility to ensure a smooth process of retrieval of property.
