Corrupt Orange County Bail Agents Association Gets Crushed In Court

It's no secret that the Orange County Bail Agents Association is a group of some of the most corrupt bail agents in the state. In fact, collectively, this group has more complaints filed against them with the Department of Insurance than almost any other county bail organization in the state. This good old boys network is the same group that got the city of Santa Ana to pass an ordinance prohibiting new bail companies from opening any new offices in Santa Ana while at the same time garnering an exemption from themselves.

It seems their latest attempt to further restrict the bail bond business in Orange County while raping the tax payers of tens of millions of dollars has been CRUSHED in two different court cases. In the first case, the judge completely dismissed the case for a variety of reasons (suing the wrong entity, lack of jurisdiction, lack of legal authority). In the second case, the judge ruled so strongly against this self righteous group he all but slammed the door on their efforts to bilk the tax payers for over $100,000,000.

The group was claiming they stood to lose up to $100,000,000 due to new companies operating in ways the old school establishment could not compete with. New companies have started implementing more aggressive marketing strategies such as handing out bail information in front of the Orange County Jail. Many of these companies have successfully used these tactics to earn business that would have previously gone to the older bail companies with high profile established offices.  Unfortunately, for the old guard, the new companies have a difficult time opening offices in Santa Ana due to the onerous restrictions which were put in place due to the lobbying efforts of the Orange County Bail Association.  I guess that bit of clever lobbying came back and bit them in the wallet.

The interesting thing is that many of the companies who are now suing the city have unsuccessfully tried to use the same marketing tactics in the past. In fact, one of the current board members is STILL paying employees to hand out marketing material. Unfortunately for the old guard, their efforts proved to be noncompetitive. Rather than adapting, they attempted to sue the county and the city of Santa Ana. Not only would this have cost the taxpayers a fortune, but it would have limited the options of families who need to get their loved one out of custody.

The more bail bond agencies there are the more options families will have when trying to get their loved one out of jail.
